Marine Ecology-2002 international conference, which opened in Vladivostok (the administrative centre of the Maritime Territory, the Russian Far East) on Wednesday, will generalise the world experience in protecting the marine-coastal environment from the negative consequences of human activity.
The press service of the State Marine University named after Admiral Nevelsky reported that the participants in the conference will also discuss the latest technical achievements in the field of marine-coastal nature conservancy.
Taking part in the conference are ecologists from a number of Russian cities as well as scientists from Japan and South Korea. The Institute of Sea Protection of the State Marine University, the Marine Ecological Foundation of the Maritime Territory and the Committee of Natural Resources for the Maritime Territory have been its organisers.
The conference will last till October 18th.
