Russian Communist Party offers to terminate diplomatic ties with Lithuania

Deputy head of the Duma faction of the Communist Party, Nikolai Kolomeytsev, suggested Russia should terminate diplomatic relations with Lithuania and introduce sanctions against the Baltic country, RIA Novosti.

The MP was outraged about the remarks from Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite that she said on Thursday, November 20 during her interview on a local radio station. In the context of Ukrainian events, she called Russia "a terrorist state" and urged to provide military support to the sitting Ukrainian authorities.

"This is unacceptable if the president of a country allows such boorish and cynical remarks," MP Kolomeytsev said.

State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin proposed to submit the question about the  termination of relations with Lithuania for consideration at the parliament.

Under current law, diplomatic representatives can be appointed and recalled by president after adequate consultations with parliamentary committees and commissions.
