The 22nd International Textile Salon will open in Ivanovo on November 22. The event aims to promote the domestic fashion industry market, build business contacts between managers, specialists of textile and clothing enterprises with scientists of universities, research institutes, fashion designers. Another goal of the event is to raise the prestige of working professions. Can Ivanovo cope with such problems now, against the backdrop of sanctions?
"Ivanovo can and must handle its objectives now, under the conditions of economic sanctions, - Rector of the St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Design, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prize of Russia in 2012 in the field of science and technology, Alexey Demidov, said in an interview with Pravda.Ru. - I think this is within the scope of Ivanovo's abilities. Regarding cheap textiles from China - the Russian president drew attention to the state of the textile industry in Russia.
"I think that in some ways, the sanctions can even help us go back to basics, I would say. Of course, Ivanovo, as the textile capital of Russia, can make a decisive contribution to textile independence of the country, if we draw a parallel with food independence and security. But, I think, of course, one needs state support here."
"Ivanovo is the center of the textile industry, - the chairman of supervisory boards of the group of companies Rusita and JSC Pushkin Textiles, Dmitry Filippov, told Pravda.Ru. - The Ivanovo region will be able to achieve a lot more if the region receives support from the state."
According to experts, Ivanovo textile workers should not fear competition with China. The latter has the advantage of quantity, but not quality. Ivanovo quality is famous throughout the world, this is a brand, and one should maintain this reputation accordingly.
