Jordan doctor Zake Ahmad, who was allowed into the theatre seized by the Chechen terrorists, told journalists that the number of hostages is even larger than believed. There are about 800 people being held hostage. The doctor, who worked in the building for several hours, says that there are many children among the hostages; these people need medicines, food, and aid.
The Jordan doctor says that he has seen what’s going on in the hall where the people are sitting and in the corridors of the building. Zake Ahmad says: “The people are practically quiet; they are treated quite normally.” However, he mentions that several shots sounded in the hall.
According to the Jordan doctors “there are many people among the hostages who need medical aid.” For instance, there are some people suffering from epilepsy. The doctors have been working for four hours to help the people, the operative headquarters told Interfax.
Doctors also add that the hostages are not panic stricken; the people say themselves that their treatment is satisfactory in the theater. The headquarters inform that, at least, the terrorists let the people go to the lavatory. The doctors who saw the hostages say that the people need food and hygienic goods.
It is reported that after the medical aid, the terrorists took all remaining medicines for their personal needs. The authorities are currently doing everything possible to deliver necessary items to the hostages.
