Chechnya's military commandant, Sergei Kizyun, has denied the mass media's allegations that a large-scale operation has been launched in the republic.
In his interview with RIA Novosti he stressed that no unscheduled operations were being held in the republic.
According to Kizyun, federal forces are carrying operations to eliminate gangs every day and these operations are mainly local without the use of heavy armaments.
Chechnya's commandant stressed that the recent events in Moscow had not amended the federal forces' plans either.
Kizyun added that the situation in the republic was stable showing no tendencies for aggravation.
