Ukraine should resolve a number of important questions before negotiations with potential foreign partners in the consortium for the management and development of Ukraine's gas transportation system can begin, Carlos Pascual, US ambassador to Ukraine, pointed out. According to him, Ukraine should determine what assets it can transfer to this consortium.
At the same time the procedure for solving the problem of the Neftegaz Ukrainy company's debt to Gazprom is still unclear. The financial relationships and sources of investments have not been defined either, the UFS news agency reported.
"After Ukraine analyzes these issues, it will be in a better position to start negotiations with foreign partners in the gas consortium," the US ambassador remarked. According to him, there can be both Russian and European companies in the consortium, for example, Ruhrgas.
