Sharing the responsibility for the situation that is unfolding in the country, the Federation Council (the Upper House of the Russian parliament) is ready to take "adequate measures" for heightening national security and eradicating the causes of terrorism.
This is said in the statement of the Federation Council, which was adopted at its plenary session on Wednesday in view of the terrorist act in Moscow on October 23-26.
In their statement the senators point out that the actions of the power structures, which ensured "the saving of the lives of hundreds of people deserve not only a high appraisal by the public but also an active support by the state." The statement also says that "the doors of state institutions" in Europe and in the rest of the world must be closed for emissaries-terrorists.
"The Federation Council calls upon the citizens of Russia to demonstrate vigilance, calm, reserve and wisdom, to resolutely check any manifestations of national intolerance and religious strife," says the statement.
