Crew of Russian ship survive extreme situation

The crew of the Dream ship, owned by the Pacific Plus Shipping Company (Far East), have survived a fifteen-hour ordeal in an extreme situation.

The press service of the Maritime Territory shipping company reported on Thursday that the ship's main engine cut out in the Tatar Strait, which divides the island of Sakhalin and the mainland, during a major storm. The cargo vessel, which was transporting a load of timber from the port of Vanino to Japan, lost its way. Moreover, the engine room started to take in water and the cargo was lost over board.

The tanker Aziya from the Primorskoye shipping company sped the scene of the disaster. It was travelling to the mainland port of De-Castri, but changed course as soon as it received the distress signal.

On Thursday morning, the Aziya arrived at the stricken vessel. However, by this time the Dream crew had managed themselves to deal with the situation and start the engine.
