Putin to use Mi-8 helicopters instead of cars

Helipad at the Moscow Kremlin to be used for the presidential helicopter is ready, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov said.

According to him, special calculations had been made to choose the site for the helipad. The calculations confirmed that helicopters would not cause damage the architecture of the Kremlin.

Peskov said that Putin would use domestic helicopters based on the Mi-8.

Reports about the intention of senior government officials to change vehicles to helicopters appeared last autumn. In addition, President Putin and Prime Minister Medvedev had previously minimized the movement of their motorcades in Moscow to unclog Moscow highways.
