The oceanic cyclone has left 34 settlements on Sakhalin Island (Russian Far East) without electricity.
RIA Novosti learned from Sakhalinenergo on Monday that altogether 25,000 people have been left without electricity. Emergency teams are conducting restoration work.
It is the third day that the mighty cyclone is raging. It came to the islands from Japan, bringing wet snow with rain and a strong gale with gusts exceeding 25 metres per second.
The cyclone which moves at a speed of 100 km per hour has already fully covered the Northern Kurile islands. On Monday afternoon it will reach the southern extremity of Kamchatka, bringing abundant precipitation with a very strong world.
All vessels near the Northern Kuriles and the Kamchatka coasts have been given a storm warning.
