Law enforcement agencies have identified the criminal who failed to rob a currency exchange point on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Centre on Friday afternoon.
The attacker turned out to be an A.V.Gausman, a 30-year-old Russian citizen of German extraction, Moscow's police reported. According to police, he had checked out of his flat in Moscow a year before and was going to move to Germany for permanent dwelling.
Armed with two Makarov pistols with silencers, Gausman entered the Real-Photo shop, that provides currency exchange services of the InterCredit bank and is located on the Exhibition Centre's territory, police said.
The criminal shot at a cashier, injuring her arm. However, the 35-year-old woman managed to press the alarm button and escape, slamming the door to. A guard and police officers blocked the lawbreaker in the shop.
The robber committed suicide, shooting himself through the head, when police tried to arrest him.
Law enforcement officers discovered pistols with ammunition and four home-made devices, containing petards and gunpowder, with the criminal.
