Terrorists attacking Chechen parliament destroyed. No hostages taken

Terrorists attacked the parliament of Chechnya in Grozny on Tuesday morning. Three or four armed gunmen broke into the building of the parliament at about 9:00. The terrorist group has been destroyed, but there is still no official and precise information about the killed and the injured. Three people, including two policemen, have been killed in the siege, 17 others were injured, with 6 policemen and 11 civilians among them, Pravda.Ru reports.

Russian news agencies report that three gunmen broke into the parliament. One of them blew up his bomb belt outside the building, two bombers killed themselves inside afterwards, during the special operation to liquidate the terrorist group.

The attack happened early in the morning, when deputies of the Chechen parliament were arriving to the building. The terrorists arrived in a car. Automatic fire continued for several minutes.

Special units of the Interior Ministry of Chechnya, OMON and security services of the Chechen president arrived at the site of the incident. The civil personnel was evacuated, the territory was blocked.
Official spokespeople for Chechen security services stated that the attackers had not taken any hostages.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov arrived at the scene too. Kadyrov commanded the operation to eliminate the gunmen. The head of Chechnya contacted Russian Prime Minister Putin on the phone and said that there were three people killed in the attack: two policemen and a civil employee of the parliament. The special operation to liquidate the terrorists and release all deputies and personnel took 15-20 minutes, the Chechen president said. All the terrorists have been destroyed in the siege, he added.

"All the deputies are alive and safe," Kadyrov told Putin.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has been informed about the situation in Grozny. Medvedev conducted negotiations with the heads of security and defense departments of the republic, the press service of the Kremlin said.
