Earthquake rattles Indonesia's Sumatra, killing 7

An earthquake early Monday killed seven people and injured more than 100 others on Indonesia's Sumatra island, witnesses and officials said.

The 5.5-magnitude tremor, felt across western and northern parts of the island, destroyed at least 20 houses and damaged scores of others, said local official Josikar Tanjung.

Six people, included two children, were killed by falling debris, while an elderly person died from a heart attack, the AP said.
