Prostitute mother rented out her 8 year-old daughter, Frenchman violator arrested

A Frenchman has been arrested in southeastern Thailand for allegedly raping an 8 year-old girl, police said Friday.

Jean Claude Chamoux, 56, was arrested Thursday morning on charges of raping an underage girl in Pattaya, said police Maj. Gen. Jongrak Juthanond. The suspect's hometown was not immediately known.

The unidentified girl's mother, a former prostitute, said she had rented out her daughter to Chamoux for 1,000 baht (US$24; euro19) per session to pay for medical treatment of syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease the mother has suffered from, according to Jongrak.

Police also seized more than 100 photographs and videotapes of Chamoux having sex with the girl at his condominium in Pattaya, he said. Pattaya is a resort town known for its raunchy nightlife.

The suspect faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of 40,000 baht (US$972; Ђ789). The girl's mother faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to 400,000 baht (US$9,728; Ђ7,899), the AP informs.
