Two servicemen of the interior troops have been killed and 5.3 million roubles ($1 equals about 29 roubles) stolen in a robbery of a post office car in the Zavodskoi district of Grozny, Chechnya, the republic's interior ministry reported on Tuesday.
According to the ministry's representative, yesterday morning four unknown individuals in a Zhiguli opened fire against a car of the Chechen communications and information ministry's post office at the crossing of the Gagarin and Nikitin streets. The two contract servicemen escorting the driver and the cashier were killed. The offenders stole 5.3 million roubles meant to pay pensions, as well as two automated guns and 240 5.45-mm rounds and disappeared.
The immediate attempt to intercept the robbers yielded no results.
