In Chechnya, the terrorist involved in blowing up an armored personnel carrier (APC) carrying police officers and soldiers from the Russian Interior Ministry was killed, a source at the Chechen Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti.
"On Wednesday during a search operation in the Urus-Martan district in Chechnya that involved the Federal Security Service, the Interior Ministry, the police and the military commandant's office, Razanbek Saigiriyev, a militant who was born in 1976, was killed after he resisted arrest with a weapon," the source said.
"Based on operative data, Saigiriyev was actively involved in militant groups and the May 17, 2004 bombing of a BTR-80 armored personnel carrier carrying policemen and Interior Ministry soldiers," the source said.
Eleven people died in the explosion.
