Suspect of involvement in terrorist act at Grozny stadium detained

A militant suspected of involvement in the terrorist act on May 9 at the Dinamo stadium in Grozny was detained in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya, a statement from the regional operational staff in the North Caucasus reads.

"He is one of the construction workers born in 1967," the statement reads further.

According to the document, in the course of the investigation measures with the detainee it was established that he had been an active participant of illegal armed formations. "In 1996 he was a member of the illegal armed formation under the command of the so-called field commander Bibulat Khasakhanov," the statement reads.

Currently, the detainee is being checked for involvement in the terrorist attack in Grozny on May 9.

Earlier a source in the Chechen Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti that three people were being checked for involvement in the terrorist attack at the Dinamo stadium.

"Servicemen of the Gudermes regional interior department detained Saipudi Yusupov from the village of Shali, as well as Abubakar Muchiyev and Vakhid Shamayev, who are being checked for involvement in the terrorist attack at the Dinamo stadium in Grozny," the source disclosed. According to the source, Muchiyev and Shamayev are also suspected of murdering the administration head of the Komsomolskoye village.

Moreover, in mid-May another construction worker suspected of involvement in the terrorist act was detained in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya. "Policemen detained in the village of Alkhazurovo Lom-Ali Chupayev, who participated in the construction works at the Dinamo stadium in Grozny," said the source.

The explosive device went off at the Dinamo stadium in Grozny on May 9 during the concert dedicated to the Victory Day. Six people were killed as a result of the blast - Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov, Chairman of the Chechen State Council Khusein Isayev, journalist Adlan Khasanov, two Kadyrov's security guards and an 8-year-old girl. Colonel-General Valery Baranov, the Commander of the Joint Group of Forces in the North Caucasus, received grave wounds.
