More than 11,000 living houses in Daghestan were damaged as a result of the storm, which swept by over the mountainous regions of this Russian republic in the North Caucasus last week. The damage was also caused to 279 km of roads, 614 km of high-voltage lines, 102 medical establishments, 103 schools and 180 enterprises. These figures were revealed at the extraordinary session of the Daghestan State Council held for discussion of the situation on the republic.
The Parliament ordered Heads of the Ministries and Departments to render urgent assistance to 22 regions, which were damaged as a result of the natural calamity.
The storm, which was accompanied by heavy snowfalls raged in the republic on March 5 and 6. Three people were killed and 117 injured. 15 houses were destroyed completely.
As the State Council noted, the natural calamity caused great damage to the economy of the republic. The amount of the financial damage is being specified.
