A Russian airline employee working on contract for the United Nations' year-old stabilization mission in Haiti has been kidnapped for ransom, the foreign ministry said Thursday.
The abduction of the unidentified Russian citizen occurred on Saturday, and Russian diplomats from Venezuela as well as representatives of the airline have traveled to Haiti to try to win a release.
The Russian is being held in normal conditions and is not being subjected to physical pressure, the ministry said.
