Powerful cyclone moving towards Russian Far East

A powerful cyclone is moving towards the coastal regions of the Far East.

As RIA Novosti was told in the Far-Eastern regional center of the Emergencies Ministry (MChS) on Friday, abundant precipitation, wet snow and a strong wind are expected on December 5-7.

In this connection the MChS is forecasting local-level emergency situations in the Kamchatka Region, the Maritime Territory, on Sakhalin and Kuril Islands, in the south of the Magadan Region, on the Shelikhov Gulf Bay coast, and in the Kamchatka mountains.

Violations in the work of transportation and road and communal services, an increase of the number of road accidents, breaks of communication and power-transmission lines, and damage of buildings' roofs are expected.

The life-support services of all the regions have been put in a state of increased readiness. A command to hide in bays was given to sea craft.
