A powerful cyclone with a center in the south of the Okhotsk Sea has hit the Kamchatka region, the Kamchatka interregional territorial department for hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
The strongest impact of the cyclone is felt in the Yelizovsky and Ust-Bolsheretsky regions and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The wind force here reaches 25-30 meters per second. It is snowing heavily and roads are covered with ice.
According to meteorologists, at capes the squally wind force reaches 35 meters per second.
A storm warning was announced for special and life support services and the fleet.
