Policemen killed in Ingushetia

Ingushetia's special services conducted an operation to detain militants involved in terrorist attacks in Russia's North Caucasus.

On Monday evening policemen stopped a Zhiguli car driven by Batyr Ozdoyev, 30, from the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, wanted for terrorism and attempts at law enforcers' lives, the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia (a republic in the Southern Federal District) reported. Alikhan Gaparkhoyev from the same village involved in several crimes was in the car as well.

During the detention one of the militants took out a gun and opened fire on the policemen. A 28-year-old captain of the police was killed and a major of the Federal Security Service (FSB) was wounded as a result. Policemen fired back killing Ozdoyev. Gaparkhoyev was detained. Two guns and three grenades were seized at the site of the accident. Further investigation is under way.
