Three militants have been killed during a special operation in the Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya, sources in the operational headquarters of the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus reported on Monday.
According to the headquarters' representative, police officers discovered yesterday that three men, armed with assault rifles and wearing camouflaged uniforms, had been hiding in one of the houses in the village of Sernovodsk. When the police arrived at the site, bandits opened fire and tried to escape. However, during a skirmish with police officers, they were killed.
According to the headquarters, two of the killed bandits were active members of an illegal armed group and their names have been on a federal search warrant list in connection with aggravated crimes for a long time. The identity of a third man has not been established yet.
