In Chechnya's Grozny district, militants attacked a group of Russian interior ministry servicemen, killing one person, a source in the headquarters of the Joint Federal Troops in the North Caucasus reported on Tuesday.
According to the source's information, the incident took place on the night of June 24 outside the village of Petropavlovskoye. Militants attacked a group of servicemen with assault rifles, wounding two people, one of whom, Platoon Commander Lieutenant Nikolai Sinitsyn, died and the other was hospitalized.
In a separate development staged outside the village of Eshilkhotoi in Chechnya's Vedeno district, militants also used assault rifles to attack interior ministry servicemen engaged in a search operation, wounding three people.
Interior and defence ministry troops have launched an operation to track down the assailants, the source told RIA Novosti.
