A group of 28 people has voluntarily given up participation in illegal armed formations, RIA Novosti learned from a representative of the Federal Security Service's Chechen department on Monday.
The group was delivered to Grozny on Monday, he said. "Former militants have voluntarily given up arms and announced their decision to stop further resistance to federal troops," the source said. "The ex members of the gang will be checked for possible involvement in grave offences. By now they have been identified and released," he added.
Detailed information about the surrendered militants is not revealed for the sake of their security, the agency's interlocutor added.
