A militant gang was eliminated in Chechnya's Shali district on Thursday, reported a source in the Operational Headquarters coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
The incident began with a reconnaissance party of the federal forces spotting a group of suspicious-looking people hiding in the bushes outside the village of Agishty. The soldiers cordoned off the area and ordered the group into the open. The bandits reacted by opening fire on the federals, provoking response fire. Examining the site after the clash, the party found four dead bodies, four Kalashnikov assault rifles with ammunition, and three grenades. There were no documents on the bodies to enable the law enforcers to identify them.
