In Chechnya's Nadterechny district federal forces stopped a motor pool consisting of six KamAZ tank trucks heading for the neighbouring Ingushetia.
According to the local police department, the day before an intelligence group of the Russian Interior Ministry stopped a motor pool of six tank trucks and a Zhiguli car heading along the highway, 10 kilometers off the Goragorsk village, for the administrative border on Ingushetia.
"The police tried to stop the pool to check the documents, however, unknown criminals hiding in the trucks commenced fire at the policemen from automatics. During the firing two bandits were killed, four wounded and the rest of them detained," a police representative informed.
"Some criminals in the Zhigula car managed to escape, none of the policemen suffered," the source explained.
According to the police, four tank trucks were stopped near the bridge over the Alkhanchurtsky Canal and the remaining two near checkpoint 44 in Ingushetia's Sunzhensky district.
