A police officer of the Republic of North Ossetia /Alania (a federal republic in the North Caucasus) reported on the phone that an explosive device consisting of six 200-gram TNT cartridges was defused at the stadium in Vladikavkaz.
According to him, the explosive device was discovered on Saturday at about 10.00 Moscow time during the preventive operation at one of the stands of the stadium. On Sunday, 18 May, a soccer match of the 9th round of the Premier league between the local Spartak-Alania club (with 4 victories and 4 losses, three games won at the local field) and the CSKA club from Moscow, the leader of the present championship (19 points, three points more than the second place Dynamo club from Moscow).
The explosive device was rendered harmless, an investigation of the fact is underway.
The officer of the Interior Ministry explained that the explosive device "was not equipped with a detonator and thus at the moment of its discovery was not dangerous."
