Large shipment of narcotics seized in Siberian city of Surgut

The police seized almost seven kilos of heroin from a drug-trafficker in Surgut (a large center of oil and gas industry in Trans-Ural region), announced an official from the RF Interior Ministry press services.

Yesterday, during a routine sweeping operation at the local railway station, police officers detained a 33-year old woman. During a personal search, they found and seized 6 kilos and 808 grams of heroin.

The police filed a criminal case in relation to illegal trafficking of narcotics. Further investigation is under way. Police officers are interested in discovering purchasing and distribution channels of narcotics trade.

Overall, 31 cases of illegal trafficking of large quantities of narcotics were registered in 22 regions of Russia yesterday. Nine kilos of heroin, more than 23 kilos of marijuana and 1.7 kilos of hashish have been taken out of illegal circulation.
