Militants in the Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya bombarded with grenades an armoured vehicle of the Russian Interior Ministry's internal troops, killing three and wounding other three servicemen. The news was announced on Tuesday at the Regional operative headquarters for coordinating the North Caucasus counter-terrorist operation.
According to its information, the incident occurred on Monday on the federal highway Kavkaz near the village of Davydenkovskaya. "The militants opened fire at the passing armoured vehicle from automatic weapons and then bombarded it with grenades," the headquarters' spokesman said. The offenders left the scene of the incident in a car without a regicstration plate, and the police failed to detain them hot on the trail.
"The vehicle is out of order, and the militants took the documents and weapons of the dead and wounded policemen", the source reported.
Operational and search actions are under way, and investigation has been launched.
