A day of mourning has begun in the Chechen village of Znamensky in memory of those who died in the terrorist attack yesterday. All entertainment scheduled for the next three days has been cancelled.
The explosion took place yesterday morning. A KAMAZ lorry full of explosives was driven by terrorists into the local government compound. The death toll has already reached 47 including 7 children and 14 women. A further 179 people were injured in the explosion and 114 of these were hospitalised. About 50 of those victims lying in hospital are reportedly in a critical condition.
The search of survivors continued throughout the night. The search party includes over 80 rescue workers and volunteers.
