The number of forest fires in the Khabarovsk Territory (the Russian Far East) has reduced by almost two thirds over the past three days.
While 55 fires were active last Wednesday, only 16 of them remained by Friday, the control service of the Far East base of forest aviation guard told RIA Novosti.
Thanks to the efforts of firemen and locals, 13 fires have been liquidated over the past 24 hours.
Police and forest guards have been placed on some roads in the areas where emergency has been declared, to restrict the entry of tourists in forests.
