Russian military units completed their seven-day special operation in two Shali-district populated localities (eastern Chechnya). The Russians were searching for bandits and weapons there.
Talking to RIA Novosti, district administrator Abdul Sapiyev noted that no violations were registered during the operation; nor did Russian soldiers detain any local residents in violation of the law. According to Sapiyev, the Russian commander, who demanded that his subordinates behave tactfully with regard to the local populace, should be thanked for this outcome. The local administration and those in charge of the operation signed a document stating expressly that there were no violations whatsoever. Prosecutor-office personnel also took part in the check.
Seven bandits were liquidated and several terrorists, who had attacked federal forces in the area some time ago, were detained as a result of this operation.
