Two locals were killed and three wounded in a terrorist attack on the district center of Achkhoi-Martan, Chechen Republic, the press service of the Chechen prime minister reported on Monday. Last night, a terrorist unit attacked the town of Achkhoi-Martan in what turned out to be a carefully planned action against law enforcers.
Arbi Satuyev, the acting head of the district administration, told RIA Novosti that armed separatists had broken into the house of local policeman Dishni Kuriyev at about 2 o'clock in the morning and shot the officer pointblank.
Having killed Kuriyev, the terrorists headed for the house of his colleague Aslan Satuyev and tried to break in, but the policeman opened fire on them, initiating an armed clash that lasted about 30 minutes. Satuyev was heavily wounded but nevertheless forced the bandits to retreat. While retreating, they fired several shots from grenade launchers at neighboring houses, including one that belonged to Dada Shamayev, whose son is a police officer. Shamayev's house was reduced to ashes, the owner and his wife suffered burns and severe wounds. Escaping from the district center, the terrorists kidnapped a local resident by the name of Suleiman Idrisov and brutally murdered him. The mutilated body of Idrisov was discovered in the outskirts of the village.
Before the incident, Achkhoi-Martan was known as "one of the most peaceful towns in the southern part of Chechnya," said the press service.
