Five officers of the OMON, or the police special task force, were wounded in an explosion in the Chechen capital of Grozny, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for Coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.
The explosion occurred in Grozny's Lenin district just when OMON officers where returning from an external checkpoint.
In a separate development outside the district center of Shali, militants attacked the temporary quarters of a Russian interior ministry unit with automatic weapons, wounding a serviceman. Two hours later, a group of militants attacked a checkpoint on the outskirts of the district center of Kurchaloi, also wounding a serviceman.
Yet another checkpoint was attacked in Argun on the night of June 10. No victims were reported.
