Rescue workers of Russia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan delivers humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

The Emergencies Ministries of Russia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have delivered 165 tons of grain to Afghanistan as humanitarian aid. As RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Russian frontier group serving in Tajikistan to guard the Tajik-Afghan border, on Tuesday the Russian border guards let the cargo along the lines of the UN World Food Programme and NPO Focus pass through the Ishkashim check-point of the Ishkashim border guard detachment. As many as 165.45 tonnes of grain, 54 tons of wheat and 4.514 tons of vegetable oil were turned over to Afghanistan.

Since the beginning of the operation by the Emergencies Ministries of the three countries to carry the relief cargoes to Afghanistan 42 columns (1,543 automobiles, 1,525 people and 7,495.265 tons of grain) have been let pass into Afghanistan. As many as 40 columns were let pass back from Afghanistan.

The press service officials said that the day before more than 23 tons of cement had been let pass from Tajikistan into Afghanistan at the Farkhor-Kokulm crossing point on the section of the Moscow border guard detachment. As many as eight ferry-boats with building materials (20 tons of cement) and equipment were let pass through the Tem-Rechnoi crossing point on the section of the Khorog border guard detachment.
