17 temporary checkpoints of simplified access have been opened in the Gorno-Badakhshanskaya Region of Tajikistan to let the humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. The Republic's Government has passed a relevant resolution. The press service of the Russian frontier guards in Tajikistan said that one of these checkpoints at the Khorogsk frontier sector had let 10 ferries with building materials and other cargoes in Afghanistan. 40.208 tons of wheat passed another checkpoint of this frontier sector. The press service also reported that the Emergencies Ministries of Russia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are continuing the humanitarian operation in Afghanistan. On Wednesday, May 15, the Iskashim checkpoint let in 38 cars with humanitarian aid granted by the UN World Food programme and the Focus non-governmental organization. Since the beginning of the second stage of the humanitarian operation launched by the UN World Food Programme, 1,174 cars with humanitarian aid have gone into Afghanistan from Tajikistan.
