Several anti-terror operations are simultaneously underway in Afghanistan. Close on a thousand British commandos are searching the country's southeast for surviving Taliban fighters and Al-Qaida terrorists, reports Brigadier-General Rodger Lane, in command of the British contingent. As he was addressing newsmen in Kabul, General Lane also mentioned Operation Snipe, launched in forbidding highlands four days ago. He did not specify the location. Pakistani-based government news agency APP assumes he was referring to the south of Paktia province. The USA has announced the start of Operation Mountain Lion throughout Afghanistan, with an emphasis on Khost and Paktia in the southeast.
