Three acts of terrorism were thwarted in the capital of Chechnya Grozny yesterday. As the staff of the Joint Group of the Russian Interior Ministry in the North Caucasus reported, field-engineers had detected a sixth model Zhiguli motorcar with an explosive device planted in it at the crossroads of the Staropromyslovsky avenue and the Garazhny lane in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny. The device contained a 152-mm tank shell and a plastic bottle with a flammable mixture and a Kenwood radio set. The motor car, implanted with the explosive device, was destroyed by blasting. Another explosive, made of a 60-cm long pipe, trotyl and a detonator, was found in a ferro-concrete plant in the Zavodsky district of the Chechen capital. Two cables connected the device with one of the workshops. A mine, planted in a road near a house in the Lenin Street, was destroyed in the Oktyabrsky district of Grozny.
