The leadership of the Taliban movement is ready for negotiations with the Northern Alliance to achieve a political solution of the military conflict. As the RIA Novosti reports, this was stated in Kabul on Thursday by press secretary of the Taliban Foreign Ministry Faiz Mohammad Faiz. According to him, "the Talibs are always open for dialogue both with the opposition and the international community for the sake of restoring peace in the war- and drought-ravaged country." A week ago, the Talibs rejected the proposal of the Japanese government about conducting the negotiations with the Northern Alliance in that country. However, according to the Afghan sources, this decision is not final. On Wednesday, the Japanese ambassador to Pakistan met again with the head of the Taliban diplomatic mission Abul Salyam Zaif and again proposed to take part in the negotiations. Zaif promised to inform of this proposal the headquarters of the Taliban movement in Kandahar.
