During the past 24 hours units of the joint grouping of the Russian Interior Ministry carried out a number of successful search operations, resulting in the confiscation of large quantities of weapons and ammunition. The provisional press-centre of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Northern Caucasus reported that a cache with a 200-gram TNT block, 150 grams of plastic, 2 electric detonators, 1 land mine and a 122 mm calibre shell were discovered in Novopromyslovskaya Street in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district. Eight 400-gram TNT blocks, 15 grenades, 3 grenade launcher rounds and one grenade launcher were also found in a cache in the village of Kadyr-Yurt, the Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya, not far from the motor road leading fromm the district centre. During an operation carried out in the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya, the police found in the basement of a ruined house 268 artillery shells of different calibre, 12 grenades and one mine. In the Gudermes district of Chechnya, not far from a country-road next to Dzhalka village, staffers of law-enforcement bodies confiscated from a cache 1 grenade-launcher, two 200-gram TNT blocks, 1 F-1 grenade and an artillery shell. Altogether the units of the Joint Grouping of the Russian Interior Ministry rendered harmless 29 explosive devices, confiscated more than 2,000 ammunition and 5.6 kg of explosive substances during the past 24 hours.
