Hostilities took place in Afghanistan near Tajik border

Fighting between military formations of the Northern Alliance and Taliban movement took place on Monday in close vicinity to the Tajik border. According to the reports of the press service of the frontier group of the Federal frontier service in Tajikistan, the Russian frontier details of the frontier posts Pianj, Tugul, Shuranisai and Kupletin of the Pianj frontier detachment (on the border with Afghanistan) spotted combat activities on the territory of Afghanistan, within 3-4 kilometres from the state border line. In the course of the fighting, artillery, mortars and small arms were used.
