Israeli warplanes soared over the West Bank and Gaza overnight, destroying security buildings in the West Bank city of Ramallah and the Rafah refugee camp in southern Gaza. No deaths were reported in the air strikes.
But hospital sources in the town of Khan Younis in southern Gaza said a 14-year-old girl, a 37-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were killed when tank shells hit their homes overnight in the Khan Younis refugee camp.
Israeli military sources said troops shot dead an armed Palestinian near the Morag settlement in southern Gaza and Palestinian security sources said soldiers shot dead another Palestinian near the Netzer Hazan settlement, also in Gaza. The army said the man fired first at the troops near Netzer Hazan.
Troops also killed two Palestinians and wounded nine during a gunfight early on Tuesday when soldiers tried to enter the Balata Palestinian refugee camp on the outskirts of Nablus, witnesses and hospital officials said.
