Units of the Joint Group of Force (JGF) came under Chechen small arms and grenade-launcher fire eight times over the past 24 hours. According to the JGF Staff, in the course of a search operation in the Chechen capital of Grozny, unidentified persons shot from an under-barrel grenade launcher at a reconnaissance unit of the Russian Interior Force. As a result of the clash, one serviceman was wounded. The press service at the Russian Interior Ministry also reported that illegal armed formations attacked a checkpoint and temporary police stations, as well as a police barrack in Grozny. All attacks were refuted by return fire, there were no casualties among police officers, the press service stated.
