The former Prime Minister in the Burhanuddin Rabbani government, the leader of the Islamic Party of Afghanistan (IPA), Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, now in exile in Iran, told the Taliban regime about secret arms caches, belonging to his group, on the territory of the country. Among other weapons, there are twelve portable air defence missiles Stinger in these caches, the NNI Agency reports. After the United States started its operation in Afghanistan, Hekmatyar made a statement about his readiness to join the Taliban "in its fight against the US aggression." The agency reported that the Taliban had already received these armaments and thanked Hekmatyar "for the goodwill gesture at a time of trials." For the first time the leader's envoy met the Taliban leadership. Quite possible that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will formally declare about an alliance with the Taliban regime.
