The latest developments in Abkhazia (a self-proclaimed republic on the territory of Georgia) is riveting close attention of the Russian power structures, since among the militants there are people who fought in Chechnya as members of the illegal armed formations. As a RIA Novosti correspondent reports, this was stated in Bishkek on Wednesday by Russian Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo. "This cannot but worry us," he emphasized. Rushailo stressed that he had discussed this problem with the Georgian Security Council Secretary during the meeting of the heads of the Security Councils of the states party to the Collective Security Treaty and the representatives of the CIS member states held in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. On Tuesday, several villages in the Kodor Gorge in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict were subject to air strikes. Abkhazia claims to have been attacked by Georgian aircraft but Tbilisi is negating this. A helicopter of the UN mission was earlier downed by militants in the Gulripshky district in the zone of the conflict, and 14 people were killed.
