UN Secretariat held an extraordinary meeting with Major-General Ford, Military Adviser to the UN Secretary-General reporting on the possible causes of the Monday crash of the helicopter flying UN observers in the Kondor gorge, Moscow military and diplomatic sources said Tuesday. The helicopter must have been downed by Georgian and Chechen rebels in the Kondor gorge, General Ford said. According to the military adviser to the UN Secretary-General, the helicopter with the UN military advisers could not have been taken for a fighting machine, for it had specific white UN colouring and bright inscriptions on the bottom.
