Two militants were killed in Gekhi, Chechnya's Urus-Martan district, reported the provisional police press center on Thursday. The couple, both local residents, were shot down after opening fire on law enforcers engaged in a police raid in Gekhi. None of the servicemen and police officers was hurt. Searching through terrorists' belongings afterwards, police found a grenade launcher, a machine gun, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a mine, about 1,000 cartridges and an electric detonator. Most probably, the couple had been engaged in planting homemade explosive devices. In the same village, law enforcers detained two people armed with an assault rifle, a sporting gun, 2 shells and a grenade. At the moment, police are checking into their identity and possible involvement in militant activity. Yesterday, 10 people were arrested during a special raid across Chechnya's rural Groznensky district. Six of them have been identified as members of illegal armed units.
