Northern Fleet Experts Prepare For Radiation Monitoring Of Kursk

Experts of the Russian Northern Fleet are preparing for radiation monitoring of the sixth reactor compartment of the salvaged Kursk nuclear submarine. According to Igor Dygalo, the Aide to the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, raising the floating dock #50 was continued on Wednesday in the Roslyakovo village. The floating dock with the submarine attached to its keel-blocks, is expected to be raised another two meters on Wednesday. After this, investigators and Northern Fleet experts will go aboard the sub for a detailed examination of the sub's hull. In the afternoon, workers of the Roslyakovo shipyard and Fleet experts will commence cutting holes in the sixth reactor compartment for the subsequent taking of water and, probably, air probes, Dygalo reported. According to him, the decision to perform works within the sub's inner hull will be made after a thorough radiation analysis of the probes.
