Macedonia Reinforces Its Air Force

Macedonia is currently setting up a special aerial unit, which can conduct air raids in enemy's rear and participate in anti-terrorist operations, Vlado Buckovski, the Macedonian Defence Minister, was quoted as saying. According to him, the Macedonian Air Force has twenty aircraft and a reliable air defence. In the near future, the country's Air Force will purchase AN-74 transport aircraft. The local mass media report that the Macedonian Air Force is equipped with four Su-25 combat aircraft and 10 Mi-24V helicopter gunships, as well as several Soviet-made transport helicopters. The Air defence has modern missile systems at its disposal. The most of the last year's Macedonian purchases were made in Ukraine.
